Yelena Kasianova lives and works in California. She gained an early classical art education from her architecturally trained mother. And went onto study color theory, initially learning watercolor from a Tavricheskaya Art School alumni, and later perfecting her oil painting techniques in Florence, Italy.
Borrowing from the surrealist, her latest collection focuses on capturing the unconscious. Various forms of positive emotions are expressed in the paintings through color and are usually framed by hands in order to contain the fleeting. The explosions of pigment and line meditate on how the artist can share an intimate feeling with the viewer.
